This rabbit polyclonal reagent from Antibodies.com was raised against the calcium-binding photoreceptor protein Recoverin and is validated for Western blot, immunohistochemistry, and immunofluorescence workflows in human, mouse, and rat samples.

The antibody is supplied unconjugated at 1 mg/ml in phosphate buffered saline with 0.05% sodium azide at approximately pH 7.2, packaged as a 100 µl vial suitable for multiple staining or blotting experiments.

Recoverin is a roughly 23 kDa EF-hand protein expressed in retinal rod and cone photoreceptors, where it modulates rhodopsin kinase in a calcium-dependent manner during phototransduction. Anti-recoverin antibodies are widely used in vision research to characterize photoreceptor populations, and clinically they serve as markers in Cancer-Associated Retinopathy, a paraneoplastic autoimmune condition triggered when extraocular tumors ectopically express recoverin.

The polyclonal format offers multi-epitope recognition, which can be advantageous when working with formalin-fixed tissue sections or low-abundance targets. For handling, refrigerate upon arrival, aliquot if needed, and avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles to preserve binding activity across western blot and immunofluorescence assays.
