RBFOX3 (RNA Binding Fox-1 Homolog 3), widely referenced under the synonym NeuN, is a nuclear RNA-binding splicing regulator whose expression is restricted almost entirely to post-mitotic neurons in the central and peripheral nervous systems. Because of this tight cellular specificity, the protein has become one of the most cited immunohistochemical markers for distinguishing mature neurons from surrounding glia in tissue sections, and for tracking neuronal differentiation in developmental and stem-cell studies.

This unconjugated rabbit polyclonal reagent from Antibodies.com is raised against RBFOX3 and validated for western blot and immunohistochemistry workflows. The antibody recognizes both the human and mouse orthologues, supporting cross-species work in rodent disease models, primary neuronal cultures, and human biopsy or post-mortem tissue archives. Supplied as 100 µl of polyclonal antiserum, the reagent is formatted for routine immunolabeling without a fluorescent or enzymatic reporter pre-conjugated to the IgG.

RBFOX3 sits in a family of FOX-1 related splicing factors that bind the (U)GCAUG element in pre-mRNA to regulate alternative splicing of neuronal transcripts. Loss-of-function variants in the gene have been linked to developmental and epileptic encephalopathy, reinforcing research interest in tools that reliably label the protein in patient-derived neurons and in knockout validation experiments.
