Background

RAR-gamma (Retinoic Acid Receptor gamma, encoded by RARG/NR1B3) is a ligand-activated nuclear receptor that translates circulating and tissue-derived retinoic acid signals into gene-expression programs. Upon binding its retinoid ligand, RAR-gamma heterodimerizes with retinoid X receptors (RXRα, RXRβ, RXRγ) and docks at retinoic acid response elements (RAREs) in promoter and enhancer regions, modulating transcription of genes that guide epithelial differentiation, skeletal morphogenesis, hematopoiesis, and limb patterning.

Reagent

Antibodies.com supplies this rabbit-derived polyclonal reagent as 100 µl of unconjugated antiserum, validated for Western blot (WB), immunohistochemistry (IHC), and immunofluorescence (IF) on human and mouse samples. The polyclonal format offers multi-epitope recognition, which is helpful when probing full-length versus splice isoforms of RAR-gamma in cell lysates and fixed tissue sections.

Typical uses

Investigators working in retinoid signaling, dermatology (RAR-gamma is the dominant retinoic acid receptor in adult epidermis), reproductive biology, and acute promyelocytic leukemia research routinely apply this antibody to localize receptor distribution in skin, lung, intestinal epithelium, testis, and developing embryos. As an unconjugated primary, it pairs with HRP-, biotin-, Alexa Fluor-, or alkaline phosphatase-conjugated secondaries for chromogenic DAB, immunoperoxidase, or fluorescence detection.

Handling notes

For short-term use, keep refrigerated and protect from light; for longer storage, aliquot and freeze at -20°C while avoiding repeated freeze-thaw cycles. This product is for research use only and is not intended for diagnostic procedures.
