Parvalbumin (PVALB) is a calcium-binding albumin protein expressed in fast-contracting skeletal muscle fibers and a subset of GABAergic interneurons in the central nervous system, making it a widely used marker in neurobiology and muscle physiology research. This polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com was raised in rabbit and is supplied as a 50 µl vial at 1 mg/ml in PBS with 0.1% sodium azide and 50% glycerol, a formulation that supports storage at -20 °C. The unconjugated reagent is validated for Western blot and immunohistochemistry applications on human, mouse, and rat samples, supporting detection of the ~12 kDa PVALB polypeptide in tissue lysates and fixed sections. Researchers apply this antibody to characterize fast-twitch myofibers, map parvalbumin-positive cortical and hippocampal interneurons, and investigate alterations in inhibitory circuitry in neurological disease models.
