Raised in rabbit as a polyclonal IgG preparation, this unconjugated affinity reagent targets PTTG1 (also called securin) in human, mouse, and rat samples. Securin is best known as a guardian of sister-chromatid separation during mitotic anaphase, where it restrains separase until the metaphase-to-anaphase transition, and its dysregulation is a recognised feature of multiple solid tumours. The antibody supports two widely used readouts in cell-cycle and cancer research: Western blot detection of endogenous securin in cultured cell lysates and tissue homogenates, and immunohistochemical localisation of nuclear PTTG1 staining in formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded sections.

The 200 µl volume supplied by Antibodies.com provides enough material for multiple membranes and dozens of stained slides, allowing laboratories to compare PTTG1 expression across matched normal and tumour panels without reordering. Because securin is frequently overexpressed in pituitary adenomas, breast, lung, and colorectal carcinomas, the reagent is commonly deployed in studies of tumour progression, chromosomal instability, and DNA-damage response pathways, often alongside proliferation markers such as Ki-67 and cyclin B1 to characterise mitotic and proliferative phenotypes.

Storage at -20 °C in working aliquots preserves activity across repeated freeze-thaw cycles, and the unconjugated format allows laboratories to pair the antibody with HRP, biotin, or fluorophore labels of their choice for tailored Western blot or immunostaining protocols.
