PTK2 (also known as Focal Adhesion Kinase, FAK) is a non-receptor protein tyrosine kinase that localizes to focal adhesions and integrates signals from integrins and growth factor receptors to regulate cell adhesion, migration, proliferation, and survival. This rabbit polyclonal antibody recognizes PTK2 only when phosphorylated at the adjacent activation-loop residues tyrosine 576 and tyrosine 577, a modification that is catalyzed by Src family kinases and is required for full catalytic activity of the kinase. The antibody is supplied as 100 ul of unconjugated IgG in a vial and should be refrigerated for short-term use; for longer-term storage, aliquot and freeze the reagent and avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles. It has been validated for Western Blot detection of the activated phospho-form of human PTK2 in cell lysates. Researchers commonly use this reagent to monitor integrin- or growth-factor-driven FAK activation, to follow changes in focal adhesion signaling during cell migration or invasion studies, and to assess the effect of pharmacological FAK inhibitors. The product is manufactured by Antibodies.com and is intended for research use only.
