PTEN (phosphatase and tensin homolog) is a lipid phosphatase and one of the most frequently inactivated tumor suppressors in human cancer. It antagonizes PI3K/AKT signaling by dephosphorylating PIP3 to PIP2, and loss-of-function alterations are well documented in glioblastoma, endometrial carcinoma, prostate cancer, and Cowden syndrome. Detecting the endogenous protein therefore underpins tumor biology and cell signaling studies, including pathway analysis in cancer cell lines and characterization of tumor samples.
