The PSMC2 gene encodes a roughly 49 kDa AAA-ATPase subunit (also called MSS1) that forms part of the hexameric ATPase ring within the 19S regulatory particle of the 26S proteasome. Antibodies.com supplies a rabbit polyclonal antibody to this subunit, validated for Western blot detection of endogenous PSMC2 in human and mouse samples.

The reagent is provided as 100 µL of unconjugated rabbit IgG, suitable for short-term refrigerated storage at 4 °C. Aliquoting is recommended to limit freeze-thaw cycles during long-term studies, and the unconjugated format lets individual laboratories conjugate the reagent to HRP, biotin, or a fluorophore of their choice as dictated by the downstream detection platform.

Because PSMC2 powers substrate unfolding and gate opening of the 20S core proteasome, the antibody serves as a useful marker for investigations of ubiquitin-dependent protein degradation, proteasome inhibitor sensitivity, neurodegenerative models of impaired proteostasis, and cancer cell cycle progression. Polyclonal recognition across multiple epitopes typically yields a clean band at the expected molecular weight on standard SDS-PAGE immunoblots, and PSMC2 is often monitored alongside other 19S and 20S subunit antibodies as an indicator of proteasome assembly and steady-state subunit levels. Cross-reactivity with both human and mouse samples broadens the reagent's utility across syngeneic and xenograft experimental systems.
