The Antibodies.com anti-Protein C polyclonal antibody is raised in rabbit and supplied as a liquid IgG preparation at 100 µg per vial, unconjugated and validated for western blot detection of the human Protein C zymogen, the vitamin K-dependent anticoagulant precursor encoded by the PROC gene.
Protein C circulates in plasma as a disulfide-linked heterodimer and is activated by the thrombin–thrombomodulin complex on the endothelial surface. Loss-of-function variants in PROC are a well-established cause of venous thrombophilia, which is why a human-reactive antibody against the native zymogen is useful for expression studies, hepatocyte and hepatic-cell-line western blot workups, and characterization of recombinant Protein C biopharmaceuticals. As an unconjugated IgG, the reagent is compatible with HRP-, AP-, or fluorophore-conjugated secondary antibodies, and aliquoting upon receipt helps preserve activity across multiple freeze-thaw cycles.
