This unconjugated rabbit polyclonal primary antibody from Antibodies.com targets human Protein C, a vitamin K-dependent serine protease zymogen that circulates in plasma as an inactive precursor of the anticoagulant pathway. Upon activation by the thrombin-thrombomodulin complex on endothelial cells, Protein C becomes activated Protein C (APC), which proteolytically cleaves and inactivates coagulation factors Va and VIIIa to downregulate thrombin generation. Investigators studying venous thromboembolism, inherited thrombophilia, disseminated intravascular coagulation, liver dysfunction (Protein C is synthesized in hepatocytes), and neonatal coagulopathies routinely rely on this reagent. The polyclonal format delivers broad epitope coverage useful for recognizing the intact zymogen, activation intermediates, and degradation fragments, while the unconjugated state permits flexible pairing with user-selected secondary antibodies and a range of detection chemistries. Validated for western blot and ELISA workflows, the reagent supports qualitative and semi-quantitative analysis of Protein C in cell lysates and human-derived samples. It is supplied as 100 µl of polyclonal antiserum and is intended for research use only.
