Produced by Antibodies.com, this primary antibody is raised in rabbit against the steroid 17-hydroxyprogesterone (17-OHP), an endogenous intermediate in adrenal cortisol biosynthesis and a clinically established biomarker for congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH). The polyclonal reagent is supplied as 1 ml of neat serum in a vial, unconjugated, and is intended for in vitro research and immunoassay development.

17-OHP accumulates when 21-hydroxylase or 11β-hydroxylase activity is impaired, so antibodies that selectively recognize the 17-hydroxylated form of progesterone underpin many newborn screening and reproductive endocrinology workflows. Because the reagent is unconjugated, it can be paired with horseradish peroxidase, biotin, or fluorophore labels chosen by the end user, supporting ELISA, RIA, and immunohistochemistry protocols.

For handling, aliquot the serum upon first thaw to limit repeated freeze-thaw cycles and store at -20°C; protect from light. The polyclonal response provides recognition across multiple epitopes of the small steroid hapten, which is useful when the target is conjugated to a carrier protein for coating or competition assays.
