Anti-PRODH Antibody

Proline Dehydrogenase 1 (PRODH1) is a mitochondrial flavoenzyme that catalyzes the first committed step of proline catabolism, oxidizing L-proline to Δ¹-pyrroline-5-carboxylate. PRODH activity is of broad interest because altered proline catabolism is associated with type I hyperprolinemia and schizophrenia-susceptibility loci, while many tumor types up-regulate proline oxidation to feed the TCA cycle and to manage redox balance. The reagent is supplied as 100 µl at 1 mg/ml in PBS with 0.1% Sodium Azide and 50% glycerol as cryoprotectant. For best stability, store aliquots at -20 °C and limit freeze-thaw cycles; the azide preservative is compatible with standard immunostaining workflows but should be removed before amine-based conjugation chemistry.

Because the antibody is polyclonal, multiple epitopes on PRODH are recognized, which can improve tolerance to minor sequence variation between human and mouse orthologs.
