Protein C (PROC) is a vitamin K-dependent plasma glycoprotein synthesized in the liver that acts as a central regulator of the anticoagulant cascade. Once thrombin-bound thrombomodulin activates it, the mature serine protease downregulates clot formation by proteolytically inactivating factors Va and VIIIa, working with its cofactor protein S. This polyclonal reagent, raised in rabbit, is supplied by Antibodies.com as an unconjugated IgG preparation intended for detection of human and rat PROC in western blot and immunohistochemistry workflows.

The antibody is provided in a 200 µl vial, suitable for immunoblotting of endothelial and hepatic lysates as well as IHC labeling of formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded tissue sections. Because it ships without an enzyme or fluorophore attached, secondary reagents such as HRP-linked anti-rabbit IgG can be selected to match a chosen chromogenic or chemiluminescent detection system. Polyclonal coverage also tolerates minor epitope variation across the two reactive species, which is helpful when comparing rodent models with human samples.

Working aliquots should be stored refrigerated and protected from light, with the bulk vial kept frozen for longer term stability. The reagent supports research use only applications in vascular biology, coagulation factor regulation, and thrombosis studies, and is not labeled for diagnostic procedures.
