Anti-PRND Antibody

Raised in rabbit and affinity purified against recombinant human PRND, this unconjugated polyclonal IgG reagent from Antibodies.com is validated for western blot detection of endogenous Doppel in human cell and tissue lysates. Doppel is a 176-amino-acid, glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI)-anchored, N-glycosylated cell-surface glycoprotein encoded by the PRND gene on chromosome 20, situated roughly 20 kbp downstream of the paralogous PRNP (cellular prion protein) locus.

The antibody resolves the characteristic dual-band Doppel signature: a 30 kDa glycosylated species and a 17-20 kDa species following peptide-N-glycosidase treatment, consistent with the predicted 20 kDa molecular weight of the unmodified protein. Supplied as 50 µl in a single-use vial, the reagent is buffered for short-term handling at refrigerated temperatures; for longer-term storage, aliquot the solution and limit freeze-thaw cycles to preserve binding activity.

PRND expression is highest in testis and within the central nervous system, with weaker signal across several peripheral tissues, and has been investigated in prion-like biology and in neurodegenerative-disease models, including PRND-mutant phenotypes associated with cerebellar ataxia.
