The PRKAB2 protein is the beta-2 regulatory subunit of AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK), a heterotrimeric serine/threonine kinase that serves as a central cellular energy sensor. AMPK becomes active when cellular AMP and ADP rise relative to ATP, and it coordinates metabolic pathways including glucose uptake, fatty acid oxidation, mitochondrial biogenesis, and autophagy. The beta subunits scaffold the catalytic alpha subunit to the regulatory gamma subunit, and the beta-2 isoform encoded by PRKAB2 is expressed in metabolically active tissues such as liver, skeletal muscle, and adipose.

This rabbit polyclonal reagent from Antibodies.com is supplied at 200 µl as an unconjugated IgG preparation validated for Western blot detection of endogenous PRKAB2 in human and mouse samples. Researchers use anti-PRKAB2 antibodies to investigate AMPK complex assembly, isoform-specific subunit expression, and the role of AMPK signaling in metabolic disease models, cancer metabolism, exercise physiology, and cardiovascular research. The polyclonal format recognises multiple epitopes on the beta-2 subunit, which is useful when monitoring expression across tissues or following treatments that shift AMPK subunit composition.
