Presenilin 1 (PSEN1) is a multi-pass transmembrane aspartyl protease that forms the catalytic core of the gamma-secretase complex, an intramembrane protease responsible for cleaving type I transmembrane substrates including amyloid precursor protein (APP). Gamma-secretase cleavage of APP liberates amyloid-beta peptides, whose aggregation drives the pathology of Alzheimer's disease. Mutations in PSEN1 account for the largest share of early-onset familial Alzheimer's cases, making this protein a focal target in neurodegenerative disease research.

This rabbit polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com is raised against human Presenilin 1 and has been validated for western blot and immunohistochemistry applications. It cross-reacts with mouse and rat orthologs, supporting studies across standard mammalian model systems including rodent models of amyloid pathology. The unconjugated format enables flexible pairing with user-preferred secondary detection reagents, including HRP- or fluorophore-conjugated antibodies, for chromogenic, chemiluminescent, or fluorescence-based readouts.

Supplied as a 100 µl vial at 1 mg/ml in phosphate-buffered saline (pH 7.2) containing 0.05% sodium azide as a preservative. For long-term storage, freeze at -20°C in working aliquots and avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles; short-term storage at 4°C is acceptable for actively used vials. This primary antibody reagent integrates into immunoprecipitation and immunofluorescence workflows in cell biology and neuroscience laboratories studying amyloid processing, gamma-secretase substrate selectivity, Notch signaling, and familial Alzheimer's disease pathogenesis.
