PPP2R1B (also called PP2A Aβ) is the beta-isoform scaffolding A subunit of protein phosphatase 2A, a major serine/threonine phosphatase that regulates cell-cycle progression, apoptosis, and the MAPK and PI3K/AKT signaling cascades, as well as the DNA damage response. Somatic alterations in PPP2R1B have been identified in primary lung and colon carcinomas, supporting a tumor-suppressor function and making the protein a target of interest in cancer biology and signal-transduction research.
