PPARA (Peroxisome Proliferator-Activated Receptor Alpha) belongs to the nuclear hormone receptor superfamily of ligand-activated transcription factors. This unconjugated rabbit polyclonal IgG reagent from Antibodies.com is raised against PPARA and is validated for Western blot detection in human, mouse, and rat samples. The receptor drives peroxisomal β-oxidation of fatty acids and the transcriptional control of lipid and energy metabolism, with broad expression in liver, cardiac muscle, skeletal muscle, and renal cortex. Investigators use this reagent to study metabolic disease mechanisms including hepatic steatosis, dyslipidemia, NAFLD progression, mitochondrial biogenesis, and the regulation of oxidative fuel selection in vivo.

The primary antibody is supplied as 200 µl of polyclonal antiserum in a vial format and is intended to be diluted into blocking buffer for standard immunoblotting workflows. Most Western blot protocols resolve the receptor band by SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, with detection achieved through HRP- or fluorophore-conjugated secondary antibodies matched to the chosen imaging system. The unconjugated format leaves reporter choice to the user, supporting chemiluminescent, near-infrared fluorescence, or chromogenic visualization of endogenous PPARA in whole-cell or tissue lysates.
