Description
This rabbit polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com targets PPARγ phosphorylated at Serine 112 (phospho-S112). It is validated for Western blot (WB) and immunohistochemistry (IHC) and reacts with Human, Mouse, and Rat samples. The unconjugated reagent is supplied at 1 mg/ml in phosphate buffered saline (PBS) containing 0.05% sodium azide at approximately pH 7.2.
The immunogen is a synthetic phosphopeptide derived from human PPARγ around the phosphorylation site of Serine 112, and the antibody specifically detects endogenous levels of PPARγ protein only when phosphorylated at Ser112. The target has a molecular weight of approximately 54 kDa. The antibody was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity chromatography using an epitope-specific immunogen, achieving a purity greater than 95% by SDS-PAGE.
PPARγ is implicated in numerous diseases including obesity, diabetes, atherosclerosis, and cancer. Reported activators include prostanoids, fatty acids, thiazolidinediones, and N-(2-benzoylphenyl) tyrosine analogues. It is a key component in adipocyte differentiation and fat-specific gene expression, may modulate macrophage functions such as proinflammatory activities, and can stimulate oxidized low-density lipoprotein (ox-LDL) uptake.
