This mouse monoclonal antibody from Antibodies.com specifically targets the N-terminus of protein phosphatase 1 catalytic subunit alpha (PP1A, encoded by the PPP1CA gene), a serine/threonine phosphatase that participates in cell cycle progression, glycogen metabolism, and the dephosphorylation of a broad network of phosphoprotein substrates.

The unconjugated reagent is supplied as 100 µl of purified immunoglobulin in a stabilizing buffer composed of 0.1 M Tris-Glycine at pH 7.4, 150 mM NaCl, 50% glycerol, and 0.2% sodium azide as a preservative. It is validated for western blot, immunohistochemistry, and immunocytochemistry applications and reacts with human PP1A, enabling detection of the endogenous phosphatase in cell lysates and in fixed tissue or cell preparations.

PP1A is one of three closely related PP1 catalytic isoforms (alongside PPP1CB and PPP1CC) and contributes to the control of mitotic exit, transcriptional regulation, and cytoskeletal dynamics. Because the antibody recognizes an N-terminal epitope on PP1A, it can help researchers discriminate this isoform from the beta and gamma family members in studies of phosphatase signaling, cell division, and metabolic regulation.

As a monoclonal reagent, the antibody offers reproducible recognition of the PP1A N-terminus across experiments and is delivered in a glycerol-containing buffer that resists freeze-thaw damage during routine storage handling.
