This polyclonal reagent from Antibodies.com targets POLR2B, the second-largest subunit of human RNA polymerase II, the enzyme complex that transcribes protein-coding genes into messenger RNA. Raised in rabbit and supplied as 100 µl of unconjugated antiserum in a vial, the antibody recognizes the human POLR2B protein and is validated for Western blot, immunohistochemistry, and immunofluorescence workflows. Researchers use it to examine Pol II subunit composition, transcription-coupled chromatin occupancy, and changes in RNA polymerase II behavior during differentiation, the DNA damage response, and chemical inhibition of transcription. The polyclonal format increases the likelihood of recognizing multiple epitopes across the subunit, which is helpful when probing denatured whole-cell lysates or fixed tissue sections where antigen masking can vary. The unconjugated format gives labs flexibility to pair the reagent with HRP, biotin, or fluorophore-conjugated secondary antibodies appropriate to their detection platform. For short-term use, keep refrigerated and protect from light; aliquot before freezing to limit repeated freeze-thaw cycles on the working stock.
