This polyclonal primary antibody from Antibodies.com targets POLG2, the accessory subunit of human mitochondrial DNA polymerase gamma. Raised in rabbit hosts and supplied as an unconjugated reagent at 1 mg/ml in PBS with 0.1% sodium azide and 50% glycerol, the antibody is delivered in a 100 µl vial suited to multi-experiment workflows.

POLG2 partners with the catalytic POLG subunit to form the heterotrimeric mitochondrial DNA polymerase holoenzyme that replicates and maintains the mitochondrial genome. Researchers investigating mtDNA copy number control, mitochondrial biogenesis, and disorders linked to POLG2 mutations—including progressive external ophthalmoplegia, Alpers syndrome, and mitochondrial DNA depletion syndromes—use anti-POLG2 reagents to profile expression in patient samples and model systems.

Validated for Western blot (WB) and immunohistochemistry (IHC) on human samples, the antibody detects endogenous POLG2 in tissue sections and immunoblots. The polyclonal format offers broader epitope coverage than monoclonal alternatives, useful when probing variant isoforms or truncated forms that may arise from splice mutations in disease contexts.

Store the glycerol-containing formulation at -20°C in working aliquots to limit freeze-thaw cycles and protect from light. The sodium azide preservative allows direct use in most staining protocols without further buffer exchange.
