This polyclonal reagent from Antibodies.com targets the urokinase plasminogen activator receptor (uPAR), a glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI)-anchored membrane protein encoded by the PLAUR gene. The antibody is supplied as a 100 µl vial of unconjugated rabbit antiserum and is validated for western blot (WB) and immunohistochemistry (IHC) on human samples.

PLAUR/uPAR sits at the hub of the plasminogen activation cascade, where it concentrates urokinase (uPA) at the cell surface and accelerates conversion of plasminogen to plasmin, driving pericellular proteolysis, ECM remodeling, and integrin-mediated adhesion signaling. Because of these functions, the receptor is widely investigated in tumor invasion and metastasis models, in studies of neutrophil and monocyte recruitment during inflammation, and in fibrotic tissue remodeling.

The polyclonal format provides multi-epitope coverage across the three LY6/uPAR domain repeats (D1, D2, D3), which is useful when probing full-length receptor or detecting soluble cleavage variants such as the D1 fragment shed into body fluids. Aliquot upon arrival and store at -20°C in working volumes to limit freeze-thaw cycles; the glycerol-containing formulation remains liquid for direct loading onto gels. For IHC, antigen retrieval in citrate buffer (pH 6.0) is generally compatible with the unconjugated format and a standard HRP-polymer secondary detection step.
