Plasma alpha-L-fucosidase is a lysosomal hydrolase (encoded by FUCA1) that cleaves terminal alpha-L-fucose residues from glycoproteins and glycolipids, and inherited deficiency of this enzyme causes fucosidosis, a lysosomal storage disorder characterized by progressive neurological decline. The Antibodies.com polyclonal reagent was raised in rabbit against the human protein and is supplied at 100 µg per vial as an unconjugated, lyophilized preparation intended for research use only.

Validated applications include Western blot for detecting endogenous FUCA1 across cell and tissue lysates, and immunohistochemistry for visualizing enzyme distribution in formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded sections. Because the antibody was generated against the human antigen, expected reactivity covers Human samples, including patient-derived fibroblasts and leukocytes commonly used to confirm reduced alpha-L-fucosidase activity in suspected fucosidosis cases. The polyclonal format provides recognition of multiple epitopes on the mature glycoprotein, which can be useful when probing proteolytically processed lysosomal extracts.

Reconstitute the lyophilized pellet in sterile buffer before use, aliquot to limit freeze-thaw cycles, and store at -20 °C; for short-term handling, keep working dilutions refrigerated and protect from light to preserve activity across repeated Western blot and immunohistochemistry runs.
