PKR (Protein Kinase R, also known as EIF2AK2) is an interferon-induced serine/threonine kinase central to antiviral defense, translational regulation, and stress-activated apoptosis. Antibodies.com offers a rabbit polyclonal antibody raised against a region surrounding the K440 residue within the PKR kinase domain — a segment that becomes phosphorylated during dimerization-driven activation of the enzyme.

Supplied unconjugated at 1 mg/ml in phosphate buffered saline containing 0.05% sodium azide, pH approximately 7.2, this 50 µl vial is formatted for western blot (WB) and immunohistochemistry (IHC) workflows against human samples. The polyclonal format provides broad epitope coverage across the kinase region, useful when probing multiple phosphorylation states or isoforms of PKR.

For western blot, the antibody supports detection of full-length PKR (~68 kDa) in lysates from human cell lines treated with interferon or other inducers of the integrated stress response. For immunohistochemistry, it enables visualization of PKR expression patterns in fixed tissue sections relevant to studies of viral pathogenesis, tumor biology, and neurodegeneration. Reactivity is reported for human targets; performance in other species has not been characterized by the supplier.

Because the conjugate is unconjugated, the reagent is compatible with standard HRP- or fluorophore-labeled secondary antibodies, supporting both chemiluminescent western blot and immunofluorescent IHC imaging. Sodium azide in the buffer inhibits microbial contamination; aliquots can be held frozen to limit freeze-thaw degradation across long-term storage.
