Plakophilin-2 (PKP2) is a structural component of desmosomes and adherens junctions, anchoring intermediate filaments to the cell membrane at sites of intercellular adhesion. This unconjugated rabbit polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com binds PKP2 for western blot, immunohistochemistry, and immunofluorescence detection in human, mouse, and rat samples.

PKP2 mutations are the most common genetic cause of arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy (ARVC), and researchers use this reagent to study desmosome remodeling in cardiomyocytes, epithelial stratification, and ARVC pathogenesis. The polyclonal format provides multiple epitope recognition, useful for detecting PKP2 fragments and conformation-dependent epitopes that monoclonal antibodies can miss.

Cross-reactivity has been confirmed against PKP2 orthologs in human, mouse, and rat tissues, supporting comparative studies between patient biopsies, knockout mouse models, and rat disease models. The unconjugated format lets users pair it with HRP-conjugated secondary antibodies for chromogenic western blot and IHC detection, or with fluorophore-labeled secondaries for subcellular imaging of desmosomal plaques by immunofluorescence.

Supplied as 100 µl of polyclonal antiserum, the antibody remains stable for repeated use when stored refrigerated between 2 and 8 °C and protected from light. For multi-week projects, aliquot on receipt to limit freeze-thaw cycles and preserve binding activity across many experiments.
