PKLR (pyruvate kinase, liver and red blood cell) is a tissue-specific glycolytic enzyme that catalyzes the final rate-limiting step of glycolysis, transferring a phosphate group from phosphoenolpyruvate to ADP to yield pyruvate and ATP. The rabbit polyclonal Anti-PKLR Antibody from Antibodies.com targets this dual-isoform gene product and supports both Western blot and immunohistochemistry workflows, with confirmed reactivity against human, mouse, and rat samples.

This unconjugated primary antibody is supplied as a 100 µl liquid at 1 mg/ml in PBS containing 0.1% sodium azide and 50% glycerol as a cryoprotectant. The polyclonal format increases the chance of recognizing multiple epitopes on the L (hepatic) and R (erythroid) protein forms generated by tissue-specific alternative splicing of the PKLR transcript. Researchers working on red blood cell energy metabolism, hereditary non-spherocytic hemolytic anemia, hepatic gluconeogenesis, or tumor glycolysis (the Warburg effect) can apply this reagent to probe PK protein expression in cell lysates by Western blot and in formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded tissue sections by immunohistochemistry.

For routine use, refrigerate the vial at 4 °C; for longer storage, aliquot and freeze at -20 °C to minimize freeze-thaw damage to the IgG. Each lot is quality-checked by the supplier and is intended for research use only.
