PKLR encodes the liver (PKL) and red blood cell (PKR) isoforms of pyruvate kinase, the terminal glycolytic enzyme that converts phosphoenolpyruvate to pyruvate while generating ATP. This Antibodies.com primary antibody is a rabbit polyclonal reagent raised against PKLR, supplied as an unconjugated IgG in a 100 µl vial. It is validated for Western blot and immunohistochemistry on human samples, supporting studies of glycolysis, erythrocyte metabolism, and the molecular basis of pyruvate kinase deficiency, a hereditary nonspherocytic hemolytic anemia linked to PKLR mutations. The reagent detects both isoforms produced by alternative splicing of the PKLR transcript, allowing researchers to map tissue-specific expression in hepatocytes and erythroid cells. Because the antibody is unconjugated, it pairs with standard HRP- or fluorophore-conjugated secondary antibodies and is compatible with chromogenic IHC detection as well as chemiluminescent Western blot workflows. Working dilutions and antigen retrieval conditions should be optimized empirically for each sample preparation.
