This unconjugated rabbit polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com selectively recognizes PKC ε phosphorylated at threonine 638, an activation-loop modification that stabilizes the enzyme in its catalytically active conformation. The reagent is supplied as 100 µl of antibody at 1 mg/ml in phosphate buffered saline (PBS) containing 15 mM sodium azide at approximately pH 7.2, and is validated for western blot analysis of human, mouse, and rat samples.

PKC ε is a member of the novel protein kinase C subfamily and contributes to signaling networks involved in neuronal plasticity, ischemic preconditioning in cardiomyocytes, and the modulation of voltage-gated ion channels. Detecting the phosphorylated T638 residue provides a read-out of stimulus-dependent PKC ε activation in whole-cell lysates, membrane fractions, and tissue homogenates.

The polyclonal host response gives broader epitope recognition than a monoclonal reagent, which can help when probing conserved phospho-motifs across species. For best stability, store the vial refrigerated and protect it from repeated freeze-thaw cycles by aliquoting on first use; the sodium azide in the buffer provides antimicrobial protection for working stocks.
