Phosphoinositide kinase PIKFYVE (also known as PIP5K3) is a FYVE finger-containing enzyme that phosphorylates PtdIns(3)P to PtdIns(3,5)P2 on endosomal membranes. This rabbit polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com is raised against the PIKFYVE protein and validated for Western blot (WB) and immunofluorescence (IF) detection in human and mouse samples. The unconjugated reagent is provided as 100 µl in a vial, leaving the choice of secondary antibody, fluorophore, or enzyme conjugate to the end user.
PIKFYVE is central to endosome-to-trans-Golgi retrograde transport, macropinocytosis, and autophagy regulation; variants in the gene are associated with fleck corneal dystrophy and have been implicated in viral entry mechanisms. Investigators working on membrane trafficking, phosphoinositide signaling, or lysosomal biology probe PIKFYVE expression by immunoblotting of cell lysates and by immunostaining of fixed cells.
The antibody is intended for research use only; aliquoting upon receipt and minimizing freeze-thaw cycles helps preserve reagent performance across multiple experiments.
