From Antibodies.com, this rabbit polyclonal reagent recognizes the polymeric immunoglobulin receptor (PIGR), the transmembrane glycoprotein that transports dimeric IgA and pentameric IgM across mucosal epithelial cells. Expressed on the basolateral surface of gut, airway, and salivary gland epithelium, PIGR also functions as the secretory component (SC) that protects IgA from proteolytic degradation in luminal secretions.

The unconjugated IgG antibody is supplied at 200 µl and is validated for Western blot (WB), immunohistochemistry (IHC), immunofluorescence (IF), and flow cytometry (FC) on human samples. Researchers use it to map PIGR expression in normal mucosal tissue, to assess secretory immunity in inflammatory bowel disease and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease models, and to characterize epithelial-mesenchymal transition markers in carcinomas of the gut and lung. The polyclonal format offers broad epitope coverage and robust signal across denatured and native preparations, making it well suited for paraffin-embedded sections as well as freshly dissociated cells.

Store at -20°C in single-use aliquots to preserve activity across multiple freeze-thaw cycles, and protect from light once a fluorescent label is conjugated downstream. The unconjugated format permits pairing with HRP, biotin, Alexa Fluor, or other secondary reagents according to the chosen assay.
