PI 3-kinase p85α is an 85 kDa regulatory subunit of class IA phosphoinositide 3-kinase, encoded by PIK3R1, that forms heterodimers with the p110 catalytic subunit and docks the enzyme at phosphotyrosine motifs of activated receptor tyrosine kinases. Polyclonal antibodies raised against this subunit are widely used to chart PI3K pathway activity in growth factor signaling, insulin-responsive tissues, and tumor cell lines where AKT/mTOR output drives proliferation and survival. The Antibodies.com rabbit polyclonal reagent binds the p85α subunit in samples from human, mouse, and rat origins and is validated for western blot detection of the endogenous regulatory subunit, immunohistochemistry on fixed tissue sections, and ELISA-based quantification. Supplied as 100 µl of unconjugated antiserum, the antibody can be paired with HRP, biotin, Alexa Fluor, or alkaline phosphatase secondaries according to the chosen detection chemistry. Researchers studying insulin resistance, receptor tyrosine kinase signaling, PTEN-deficient tumors, and PIK3R1 mutation-associated syndromes such as SHORT syndrome will find this reagent applicable to pathway-mapping experiments.
