Phytanoyl-CoA hydroxylase (PHYH) is a peroxisomal matrix enzyme that catalyzes the first committed step in alpha-oxidation of the dietary branched-chain fatty acid phytanic acid. Loss-of-function variants cause Refsum disease, an inherited disorder of peroxisomal metabolism, so immunological detection of the protein is a useful tool in lipid metabolism and peroxisomal biogenesis research.
This unconjugated polyclonal antibody is raised in rabbit and validated for western blot of human samples and immunofluorescence-based staining of cultured cells and tissue sections. The reagent is supplied by Antibodies.com as a 100 µl liquid aliquot suited for probing peroxisomal subcellular fractions, characterizing patient-derived samples, and confirming subcellular localization alongside peroxisomal markers such as catalase or PMP70.
The antibody fits laboratories investigating phytanic acid catabolism, peroxisomal disorders, and the molecular pathology of Refsum disease.
