This polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com targets human phospholipid scramblase 1 (PLSCR1), a calcium-binding membrane protein that mediates rapid, bidirectional movement of phospholipids across the plasma membrane bilayer. Upon cell activation or apoptotic stimuli, PLSCR1 redistributes phosphatidylserine from the inner to the outer leaflet, exposing this anionic phospholipid on the cell surface where it drives procoagulant activity on activated platelets and acts as an "eat-me" signal that triggers phagocytic clearance of apoptotic cells.

Raised in rabbit and supplied as 100 µl of unconjugated polyclonal antiserum, the reagent has been validated for Western blot, immunohistochemistry, and immunofluorescence applications against human samples. Typical uses include probing expression patterns in tumor cell lines, investigating antiviral interferon signaling pathways, and tracking membrane lipid redistribution during programmed cell death.

For handling, the vial should be stored refrigerated at 4°C for short-term use, with aliquots frozen at -20°C for long-term preservation across multiple freeze-thaw cycles. The reagent is widely cited in research on autoimmune conditions such as antiphospholipid syndrome and systemic lupus erythematosus, where aberrant phospholipid exposure has been implicated in disease pathogenesis.
