The progesterone receptor (PGR) is a ligand-activated nuclear transcription factor that mediates the genomic actions of progesterone in target tissues, regulating reproductive processes, mammary gland development, and various neuroendocrine responses.

This rabbit polyclonal IgG antibody from Antibodies.com is raised against PGR and supplied as an unconjugated reagent in a 100 µL vial. It is validated for western blot (WB) and immunohistochemistry (IHC) workflows and detects the human receptor with cross-reactivity to mouse and rat orthologs, enabling translational studies across species.

In IHC, nuclear PGR staining is widely used in breast cancer pathology to assess hormone receptor status alongside estrogen receptor, while WB can resolve the two major receptor isoforms, PR-A and PR-B, which arise from alternative promoter usage and differ in transcriptional activity. As a polyclonal reagent, the antibody offers tolerance for minor epitope variation and broader recognition of native receptor conformations.

For handling, aliquot the reagent upon arrival and store frozen at -20 °C; protect from light and avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles to preserve binding activity. This reagent is intended for research use only.
