Raised in rabbit against the human PGA5 target, this unconjugated polyclonal antibody supports protein-level studies of pepsinogen A, the zymogen precursor of pepsin secreted by gastric chief cells. Supplied by Antibodies.com as 100 µl of ready-to-use reagent, it is validated for Western blot and immunohistochemistry workflows on human samples, making it a practical reagent for laboratories investigating gastric mucosal biology, chief cell differentiation, or pepsinogen I as a serological marker of atrophic gastritis and gastric cancer risk.

PGA5 is one of three paralogs (PGA3, PGA4, PGA5) clustered on chromosome 11q13 that give rise to pepsinogen A isoforms. Because circulating pepsinogen levels reflect gastric mucosal mass, antibodies targeting this antigen are used in research on H. pylori-associated gastritis, gastric atrophy, and screening-strategy development in high-incidence populations. The unconjugated format allows researchers to pair the antibody with custom fluorophores, enzymes, or biotinylation chemistries as their assay requires.

Reactivity is limited to human antigen, and the polyclonal nature of the reagent increases the likelihood of detecting multiple epitopes on the pepsinogen A precursor, which is useful when probing denatured samples on Western blots or formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded tissue sections in IHC. Storage at 4 °C is appropriate for short-term use; for longer intervals, aliquot and freeze to preserve activity across multiple freeze-thaw cycles.
