This rabbit polyclonal reagent from Antibodies.com specifically recognizes PFKFB2 (6-phosphofructo-2-kinase/fructose-2,6-bisphosphatase 2) when the protein is phosphorylated at serine 483. PFKFB2 is a bifunctional enzyme that both synthesizes and degrades fructose-2,6-bisphosphate, the most potent allosteric activator of phosphofructokinase-1 and a central controller of glycolytic flux, and phosphorylation at S483 is a regulatory event that shifts the kinase-to-phosphatase balance in response to hormonal and metabolic cues. Detecting this modification is therefore useful for studies of glucose metabolism, cardiac and hepatic energy handling, and the metabolic reprogramming that accompanies tumor growth.

The antibody was raised in rabbit, is polyclonal, and is supplied unconjugated at 1 mg/ml in phosphate buffered saline (PBS) with 0.05% sodium azide at approximately pH 7.2, in a 100 µl volume. It has been validated for Western blot and immunohistochemistry on human, mouse, and rat samples, and the polyclonal format offers recognition of multiple epitopes surrounding the phospho-S483 site, supporting consistent detection of the modified target across a range of lysates and tissue sections. The reagent is intended for research use only.
