Raised in rabbit as an unconjugated polyclonal IgG reagent and validated for western blot detection of endogenous mouse PDX1, this 200 µl vial from Antibodies.com targets the homeodomain transcription factor also known as IPF-1, IUF-1, GSF, STF-1, IDX-1, and MODY4. PDX1 is a 283-amino-acid nuclear protein encoded on chromosome 13 (two exons, ~6 kb) that acts as a master regulator of pancreatic β-cell identity, where it transactivates the insulin, somatostatin, glucokinase, IAPP, GLUT2, and MAFA promoters while repressing α-cell programs such as MafB.

Functionally, PDX1 is essential for early pancreas organogenesis: homozygous loss in mice or humans produces pancreatic agenesis, while heterozygous mutations underlie maturity-onset diabetes of the young type 4 (MODY4) and contribute to type 2 diabetes β-cell failure. In postnatal islets the factor is concentrated in β- and δ-cells of the islets of Langerhans and in scattered duodenal endocrine cells, where it sustains glucose-stimulated insulin secretion and blocks transdifferentiation toward a glucagon-secreting phenotype.

Supplied as a 200 µl vial of unconjugated rabbit IgG, the reagent suits membrane-based workflows such as western blot of mouse pancreatic tissue, isolated islet preparations, β-cell line lysates (e.g. MIN6, βTC), and induced pluripotent stem cell–derived β-cell differentiation models. Its unconjugated format lets the user pair it with HRP-, fluorophore-, or biotin-conjugated secondary antibodies. Research use only.
