The antibody targets PDE6B, the beta subunit of rod photoreceptor cGMP-phosphodiesterase and a key effector enzyme of the visual phototransduction cascade. PDE6B hydrolyzes cGMP to control ion channel gating in rod outer segments during light adaptation, and loss-of-function variants in this gene are causally linked to autosomal recessive retinitis pigmentosa (RP40) as well as congenital stationary night blindness, making the reagent useful for retinal biology and ophthalmic disease model studies.
Supplied by Antibodies.com as a rabbit polyclonal antibody at 1 mg/ml in PBS with 0.1% sodium azide and 50% glycerol, this unconjugated reagent is validated for western blot and immunohistochemistry across human, mouse, and rat samples. Each vial contains 100 µl of buffered antibody. Aliquot upon receipt, store at -20 °C, and protect from light; the glycerol-containing formulation limits freeze-thaw damage during routine research use.
