Anti-PCSK2 Antibody

Raised in rabbit, this polyclonal IgG reagent from Antibodies.com targets proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 2 (PCSK2), the calcium-dependent serine endoprotease also known as prohormone convertase 2 (PC2) or neuroendocrine convertase 2 (NEC2). The unconjugated antiserum is supplied as 200 µl of liquid and is validated for Western blot on human, mouse, and rat samples. Researchers commonly use it to detect the PCSK2 zymogen (approximately 70 kDa) and its mature catalytic form in neuroendocrine tissues and cell lines.

PCSK2 (UniProt P16519, 638 amino acids, EC 3.4.21.94) cleaves prohormone and neuropeptide precursors at paired basic residues inside dense-core secretory granules, processing proinsulin to insulin in pancreatic beta cells, releasing glucagon from proglucagon in alpha cells, and contributing to POMC cleavage in the pituitary and hypothalamus. The antibody is therefore useful in islet biology, prohormone maturation studies, and investigations of metabolic disease and neuroendocrine differentiation, where the maturation of the 75 kDa proPC2 zymogen to the active 68 kDa form is often followed.

For handling, store the vial refrigerated at 4 degrees C, avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles by preparing single-use aliquots, and briefly centrifuge before opening to recover the full 200 µl volume. The polyclonal format allows recognition of multiple epitopes across the full-length zymogen and the catalytically active mature form of the enzyme.
