This polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com targets pyruvate carboxylase (PC), a biotin-dependent mitochondrial enzyme that catalyzes the ATP-dependent carboxylation of pyruvate to oxaloacetate. PC plays a central role in gluconeogenesis, lipogenesis, insulin secretion, and the anaplerotic replenishment of the tricarboxylic acid cycle, and is expressed in liver, adipose tissue, pancreatic islets, and brain.

Raised in rabbit and supplied as an unconjugated polyclonal IgG preparation in 100 µL aliquots, the reagent is validated for western blot and immunohistochemistry on human and mouse samples. The native PC protein migrates near the 130 kDa marker on SDS-PAGE, making it readily distinguishable from smaller metabolic enzymes in whole-cell lysates. Investigators working on hepatic glucose output, pancreatic beta-cell metabolism, cancer cell metabolism, and mitochondrial biogenesis rely on this reagent to map PC expression across tissues and disease models.

For western blot, the antibody can be paired with HRP-conjugated secondary reagents and chemiluminescent detection. For immunohistochemistry on paraffin-embedded sections, antigen retrieval followed by overnight incubation at 4 °C yields robust cytoplasmic and granular mitochondrial staining consistent with the known subcellular localization of the enzyme. Store aliquots frozen at -20 °C in working volumes to limit freeze-thaw cycles, and keep the reagent at 4 °C during short-term handling. Research use only.
