Raised in rabbit and affinity-purified as a polyclonal IgG reagent, this unconjugated primary antibody detects endogenous PAX1 protein on western blots prepared from human, mouse, and rat samples. The 100 µl vial provides working volume for repeated blotting experiments, with a starting dilution that can be titrated against the lysate, membrane, and detection chemistry in use.

PAX1 belongs to the paired-box family of developmental transcription factors and is highly expressed in the embryonic vertebral column, sclerotome-derived chondroprogenitors, and the third pharyngeal pouch that gives rise to the thymus. Loss-of-function studies in mouse, chick, and zebrafish models have linked PAX1 to axial skeleton segmentation, proximal rib formation, scapula and sternum morphogenesis, and chondrocyte maturation. In humans, PAX1 variants are causally associated with otofaciocervical syndrome type 2 (OTFCS2) and severe combined immunodeficiency, making the protein a target of interest for developmental biology, skeletal biology, and primary immunodeficiency research.

Because the reagent is supplied unconjugated, laboratories can pair it with HRP-, fluorophore-, or biotin-conjugated anti-rabbit secondary antibodies and adapt the protocol to different imaging platforms. The antibody is intended for research use only and should be stored and handled according to the product insert provided by Antibodies.com.
