This polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com specifically recognizes the p53 tumor suppressor protein when phosphorylated at serine 37, a DNA damage-induced post-translational modification installed by DNA-PK and ATR kinases early in the genotoxic stress response. The reagent is raised in rabbit, affinity-purified, and supplied unconjugated at 1 mg/ml in phosphate buffered saline (pH 7.2) with 0.05% sodium azide acting as a microbial preservative. Each vial contains 100 µl, enough for dozens of mini-blots or many immunohistochemistry runs.

Validated for western blot and immunohistochemistry, the antibody binds the phospho-S37 epitope in lysates and tissue sections prepared from human, mouse, and rat origins, supporting cross-species studies of p53 pathway activation following ionizing radiation, UV exposure, or replication stress. Because the reagent is polyclonal, multiple immunoglobulin clones within the preparation recognize distinct determinants around the phospho-Ser37 residue, providing redundancy that improves signal in partially degraded lysates or mildly over-fixed tissue sections.

For handling, keep the vial refrigerated; aliquot upon first thaw to minimize repeated freeze-thaw cycles, and protect from light during extended incubations. Researchers investigating apoptosis, G1/S checkpoint signaling, or the cellular response to chemotherapeutic DNA damage will find this phospho-specific reagent a useful counterpoint to total p53 antibodies and to antibodies directed at neighboring phospho-sites such as Ser15 and Ser20.
