This rabbit polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com recognises the lysine 386 (K386) residue of human p53, a tumour-suppressor transcription factor often described as the guardian of the genome. K386 lies within the C-terminal regulatory domain of p53 and is acetylated by p300/CBP co-activators; this modification strengthens sequence-specific DNA binding and supports transcription of downstream target genes that mediate cell-cycle arrest and apoptosis following genotoxic stress.

Validated applications include western blot, immunohistochemistry, and immunofluorescence on human, mouse, and rat samples, enabling translational studies in widely used cell lines and animal models. The reagent is supplied as 50 µl of unconjugated polyclonal rabbit IgG at 1 mg/ml in phosphate buffered saline (PBS) containing 0.05% sodium azide at approximately pH 7.2, leaving secondary antibody and fluorophore choice to the end user.

For routine handling, refrigerate the vial; for longer intervals, aliquot and freeze at -20°C, limiting freeze-thaw cycles to preserve antibody activity. Researchers working on DNA damage signalling, chromatin-mediated gene regulation, or tumour-suppressor biology can use this reagent to probe the acetylation-sensitive activation state of p53 in cell lysates and tissue sections.
