This unconjugated rabbit polyclonal reagent from Antibodies.com recognizes the p35 regulatory subunit of cyclin-dependent kinase 5 (also known as CDK5R1), a neuron-enriched activator of CDK5 that is required for cortical lamination, neuronal migration, and axonal guidance during mammalian brain development. Supplied as 100 µL of ready-to-use reagent, the antibody has been validated for western blot, immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence, and ELISA applications on human, mouse, and rat samples, supporting studies that range from developmental neurobiology to tauopathy and other neurodegenerative disease models.

Because calpain-dependent cleavage converts p35 into the more stable p25 fragment, researchers use the reagent to monitor the balance between full-length p35 and p25 in cell lysates and tissue homogenates, to map p35 distribution across fixed brain sections, and to screen pharmacological tools that influence CDK5 signaling. The polyclonal format recognizes multiple epitopes on the antigen, which can be helpful when distinguishing cleaved fragments or comparing expression across neuronal and glial populations. Suggested downstream readouts include co-staining with neuronal markers such as NeuN or βIII-tubulin, and parallel probing for total CDK5 to assess activation state.

Standard handling applies: briefly centrifuge the vial before opening, aliquot to minimize freeze-thaw cycles, and store refrigerated for short-term use; for longer intervals, keep frozen at -20 °C or colder and protect from light. Lot-specific validation and recommended working dilutions for each application are provided on the product datasheet from Antibodies.com.
