OTX2 is a homeodomain-containing transcription factor essential for anterior neural plate patterning and retinal photoreceptor cell differentiation. The polyclonal antibody offered through Antibodies.com is raised in rabbit against the orthodenticle homeobox 2 protein and is validated for Western blot (WB) detection in cell and tissue lysates, as well as immunohistochemistry (IHC) on formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded sections.

Cross-reactivity has been confirmed in human, mouse, and rat samples, supporting studies of OTX2 in developmental neurobiology and tumor biology, including its established role in medulloblastoma pathogenesis and in ocular phenotypes such as anophthalmia and microphthalmia that arise from heterozygous loss-of-function mutations. The reagent is supplied unconjugated at 1 mg/ml in PBS supplemented with 0.1% sodium azide and 50% glycerol as a cryoprotectant, and is packaged in a 100 µl vial sized for multiple immunoblot and staining experiments.

For storage, the glycerol-containing formulation should be kept at -20°C in working aliquots to limit freeze-thaw cycles and preserve binding activity; the sodium azide component permits short-term handling at refrigerator temperature without microbial contamination. Researchers investigating pituitary, pineal, and retinal pigment epithelium tissues will find this antibody useful for charting OTX2 expression during embryogenesis and for examining aberrant expression profiles in tumor samples.
