Alpha-1-acid glycoprotein 1, encoded by the ORM1 gene, is a heavily glycosylated acute-phase plasma protein produced mainly by hepatocytes during inflammation, infection, malignancy, and tissue injury. Plasma ORM1 levels change rapidly, so the protein serves as a sensitive readout of hepatic acute-phase signaling alongside CRP and serum amyloid A. Investigators studying inflammation, hepatic biology, and altered drug binding routinely track ORM1 expression in serum, liver biopsies, and cell culture systems.

This unconjugated rabbit polyclonal reagent from Antibodies.com is raised against ORM1 and validated for Western blot and immunohistochemistry on human samples. Supplied as 100 µl, the format supports several full blotting runs or a substantial panel of stained tissue sections without re-ordering. As a primary antibody, it is paired in the lab with common anti-rabbit IgG secondaries conjugated to HRP or fluorophores, enabling chromogenic IHC on formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded tissue and immunoblotting of cell lysates, tissue homogenates, and serum fractions.

Polyclonal recognition across multiple ORM1 epitopes is advantageous when probing denatured targets on membranes or partially masked antigens in fixed tissue. The reagent is provided in a single vial and should be kept refrigerated in working aliquots to limit freeze-thaw cycles and preserve titre across ongoing WB and IHC experiments.
