Anti-ORC2 Antibody

The ORC2 polyclonal reagent from Antibodies.com is a rabbit-hosted primary antibody raised against origin recognition complex subunit 2, a core component of the six-subunit ORC assembly that marks replication origins and licenses DNA synthesis in eukaryotic cells. Affinity-purified from rabbit serum and unconjugated, the IgG is supplied at 1 mg/ml in PBS with 0.1% sodium azide and 50% glycerol, packaged as a 100 µl aliquot that loads directly onto immunoblotting gels. The antibody has been validated for western blot detection across human, mouse, and rat samples, supporting comparative studies of ORC2 expression in cell lines and tissue lysates from all three species on the same membrane.

ORC2 contributes to pre-replicative complex assembly during G1 phase, and altered ORC2 abundance has been linked to replication stress, genomic instability, and proliferation changes in certain cancer cell lines. Researchers studying S-phase entry, origin firing, or DNA replication checkpoint control use this reagent to probe ORC2 levels in whole-cell extracts under different growth conditions or drug treatments. For western blot, a working dilution of 0.1–1 µg/ml from the 1 mg/ml stock is a common starting point, with optimization depending on lysate preparation and transfer conditions. The 50% glycerol cryoprotectant allows the antibody to be stored at –20 °C; small aliquots are recommended to limit freeze-thaw cycles and preserve binding activity over multiple experiments.
