Opticin is a small leucine-rich repeat proteoglycan predominantly localized to the vitreous humor of the eye, where it associates with collagen fibrils and contributes to tissue transparency and structural integrity. This polyclonal antibody, raised in rabbit, recognizes opticin in samples from human, mouse, and rat origin.

The reagent is supplied at 1 mg/ml in phosphate buffered saline (PBS) with 0.05% sodium azide at approximately pH 7.2, and ships as a 100 µl vial suited to multiple blotting experiments. Validated for Western blot application, the unconjugated antibody pairs readily with HRP- or fluorophore-conjugated secondary reagents, supporting detection of opticin in tissue lysates and ocular extracts. Researchers investigating myopia, vitreous degeneration, glaucoma, and extracellular matrix biology use this reagent from Antibodies.com to probe opticin expression in retinal and connective tissues.

Refrigeration is recommended for short-term use; for longer periods, aliquot and store frozen to preserve antibody activity. Sodium azide in the formulation acts as a preservative; for downstream applications sensitive to azide, dialyze or gel-filter before use. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles to maintain binding performance across runs.
