This polyclonal reagent from Antibodies.com targets oligophrenin-1 (OPHN1), a Rho-family GTPase-activating protein encoded on the X chromosome and implicated in X-linked intellectual disability with cerebellar hypoplasia. Raised in rabbit as an IgG preparation and supplied unconjugated, the antibody is intended for western blot detection of endogenous OPHN1 in human, mouse, and rat samples.

OPHN1 accelerates GTP hydrolysis on RhoA and related small GTPases, linking it to actin cytoskeleton remodeling at excitatory synapses and to the maintenance of dendritic spine morphology. Investigators working on neurodevelopmental disease, synaptic plasticity, and Rho-GTPase signaling rely on this reagent to evaluate expression in neural cell lines, primary neuron cultures, and brain tissue lysates, commonly resolving 10–50 µg of total protein per lane on SDS-PAGE.

The product is supplied in a 50 µl vial format, sufficient for multiple immunoblotting experiments. Reactivity across three mammalian species supports comparative studies between rodent disease models and patient-derived material. To preserve activity over time, the antibody should be aliquoted upon arrival and stored at -20 °C, avoiding repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
